Grew & Co.
High-End Retail and Design/Workshop Atelier, 140m2, SydneyAustralia
Grew & Co. is a luxury jewellery store and custom workshop atelier, located in ‘The Arc’ building designed by Koichi Takada, in Sydney’s CBD. The brief was to create a retail environment that allowed the customer to experience the design, and production of their bespoke jewellery pieces.
We designed a custom broadloom carpet with Modieus, by supplying these contextual references and sketches as a commencement point. We drew this inspiration for the bespoke carpet from Mexican architect, Luis Barragan and American artist – David Smith’s sculptures of interlocking forms. We then introduced the charcoal shou-sugi ban timber panelling to the joinery elements.
The combination of the contrasting colour palettes, the charred black and pastel pinks, results in a harmonious blend of masculine and feminine materials and ambience. Geometric forms, integrated lighting and frameless glass display’s create clean lines and an entirely customised result.
